Domestic Violence & Domestic Abuse

"Domestic violence" or "domestic abuse" relates to crimes involving violence typically in the home environment. It is most commonly directed towards women by men but it extends a lot further than that. It can be directed towards a spouse, children, domestic partners and elders. It includes both verbal and non verbal violence or abuse.

If you've ever been a victim of domestic violence, there may be compensation available to you through the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority, a government organiation that can pay money to people who have been physically or mentally injured because they were the blameless victim of a violent crime.
